Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) (K–6)
At our school, PDHPE is a vital part of every child’s education. It supports students to lead healthy, active, and fulfilling lives by building their physical skills, social and emotional wellbeing, and understanding of personal health and safety.
We are implementing the new NSW K–10 PDHPE syllabus, which reflects current research and best practice in health and physical education. The updated curriculum is designed to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to make healthy decisions and build positive relationships.
PDHPE in K–6 focuses on four key areas:
- Health, Wellbeing and Relationships – understanding self and others, emotional regulation, respectful relationships, and help-seeking behaviours
- Healthy, Safe and Active Lifestyles – nutrition, personal safety, online safety, road safety, and making informed choices
- Movement and Physical Activity – skill development in fundamental movement, fitness, team games, dance, and sport
- Active Participation and Inclusion – developing teamwork, cooperation, and confidence through inclusive and enjoyable physical activities
Students engage in a variety of learning experiences, both in the classroom and outdoors, that promote resilience, responsibility, and a sense of belonging. Our PDHPE program supports students to become confident, respectful, and active citizens, capable of looking after their own wellbeing and contributing positively to the school and wider community.
