Science and Technology
At our school, Science and Technology is a dynamic and hands-on learning area that nurtures students' curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Through the exploration of scientific concepts and digital technologies, students develop a deep understanding of the world around them and how it works.
We are implementing the new NSW K–6 Science and Technology syllabus, which provides a strong foundation in scientific inquiry and technological innovation. The updated curriculum is designed to engage students in meaningful learning experiences that connect with real-world contexts and future-focused skills.
The Science component includes:
- Living things and their life processes
- The Earth, space, and the environment
- Physical world concepts such as forces and energy
- Chemical sciences including properties and changes of materials
- Scientific investigation, observation, and experimentation
The Technology component includes:
- Digital systems and data
- Coding, algorithms, and computational thinking
- Designing solutions to real-world problems using the design thinking process
- Creating and evaluating products, systems, and digital tools
Through inquiry-based learning, STEM integration, and the use of digital tools and technologies, students are encouraged to question, explore, test ideas, and communicate their findings. Our approach prepares students not only to understand scientific and technological concepts but also to become confident, innovative, and responsible users of technology.
