Starting school is an extremely important step for both you and your child.

Below you will find information regarding our upcoming tours, enrolment and orientation.

The Starting School page of the Department of Education website also provides guidelines to assist you in preparing for school.

Once you have made this important decision, it is our goal at Beauty Point Public School to ensure that your child feels happy and safe from his or her very first day. To achieve this goal, we have implemented an extensive information and orientation program, an ongoing buddy system, and a welcoming approach to your child's first day of school.

Orientation Program

Meet & Greet with Mr Gardiner

Kindergarten 2027 families are invited to book a 'Meet & Greet' with our Principal Mr Gardiner. This is an opportunity for Mr Gardiner to get to know you and your child and understand how we can best help your child transition smoothly into school life.

Orientation Mornings

Tuesday 3 November and Wednesday 4 November 2026 - 9:15am-10:15am

Kindergarten Orientation days are a great way for kids to experience a brief but engaging and fun session at school. It is a small taster of what classroom life will be like in the coming year.

We ask that all future Kindergarten 2027 students attend both orientation sessions.

While your child is attending these sessions, parents are invited to an information session each morning from 9.15-10.15am with the school executive staff. Our teachers will discuss how you can support your child's literacy and numeracy development and give helpful hints about starting school.

Kindergarten 2027 Parent Information Evening - Thursday 12 November 2026 - 7pm

On Thursday 12 November 2026 at 7pm we invite parents to our Kindy 2027 Parent Information Evening. This evening will give you information about how to support your child’s transition to Kindergarten. You will also hear from our Kindergarten staff, P&C and OOSH (Out of School Hours Care).

First Day

Your child’s first full day of Kindergarten is Wednesday 3 February 2027.

Note: Thursday 28 January to Tuesday 2 February are Staff Development days.

Getting ready for that first day of "big school"? The NSW Department of Education has put together helpful resources to support your child's transition to primary school, including a getting-ready checklist, enrolment guidance, and tips for building confidence and friendships. Maths Trains Brains

Best Start Assessment

The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment will take place at our school during your child’s first week.

Best Start is a state-wide assessment that helps inform teachers about the literacy and numeracy skills of each student at the beginning of kindergarten. Children come to school with a range of experiences, skills and abilities. Some are familiar with books, can recognise letters of the alphabet or even write their name or count to ten, while others have not yet learned these skills. The Best Start Kindergarten Assessment provides teachers with the opportunity to sit with a child one on one for about 50min, focusing on what that child can do. The assessment is not a test but provides teachers with useful information to help support your child’s learning at school.
